No surprises — we take the time to explain what we do and why.

Let us reassure you

Chiropractic for beginners

For those of you who haven’t tried chiropractic care, the unknown might cause some hesitation. We understand this very well. At Cedar Grove Wellness Center, our doctors take the time to help new patients, whether experienced or not, to feel comfortable in our clinic and with our techniques. This includes explanations of what procedures are used and why.

We are happy to take calls at (555) 555-0160 and schedule a free consultation to answer your questions about chiropractic. When it comes to actual treatment, we make sure there are no surprises for our chiropractic patients. We offer hands-on and mechanical techniques, depending on the needs and comfort level of the patient. Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a safe and effective medical practice that addresses the role of the spine and central nervous system as they affect your health. Chiropractors can identify and correct the actual causes of the many health challenges that appear when misalignments of the vertebrae (the bones that make up the spine) disrupt neurological communications between your brain and the cells, tissues, and organs of the body. These vertebral misalignments may have occurred naturally, or they may be a result of injury. Either way, chiropractic is a completely natural and very effective approach to treating the causes, not just the symptoms.

The First Step

Like in any medical practice, the first step before treatment is a consultation with the doctor. This consultation will provide the opportunity for you to ask all of your questions, and a chance for our doctor to find out whether chiropractic care is the right treatment for your particular areas of concern. If we don’t think we can help you, we will provide an alternative recommendation for your care.

Our chiropractic doctors will also discuss with you whether x-rays will be needed before your first adjustment, based on your complaints and condition. It is always a good idea for the doctor to examine your full spinal x-rays before the first adjustment, to rule out any counter-indications for chiropractic and even to identify some pathologies.

What Happens During a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Our chiropractors correct misalignments by gently adjusting the position of each vertebrae of the spine, reducing or eliminating neuropathy (changes in the pathology of the nerves), allowing your body to properly self-regulate, adapt and heal. Depending on the patient’s needs, this may be conducted when the patient is lying down, sitting, and/or standing up.

Contrary to popular conversation, chiropractors don’t actually “crack” anything. In fact, adjustments may not even involve that popping noise heard when gasses are released between the joints.

We hope this information is helpful to you. We are here to answer your questions and we invite you to call today to schedule a free consultation.
